Evansville Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting

Evansville Police report around 4:00 a.m. On Tuesday Central Dispatch received a call that a subject had been shot. Police say a 911 caller reported hearing multiple shots in the area of the 1600 block of North 5th avenue and another caller stated that a subject had been shot in front of her residence on 5th Avenue.

Upon arriving, EPD officers reportedly found Frankie Pollard, Jr. with a gunshot wound to his hip. Pollard stated that he was walking to his apartment (1622 Dresden) when a gold colored Ford, Crown Victoria started to follow him. Authorities say Pollard stated that the occupants of the vehicle pulled up to him and began to fire a gun at him and he was struck in the hip.

Officers searched the area that was reported where the shooting occurred and could not find any shell casings, impact spots from the bullets, or blood. Pollard could not identify any of the suspects.

According to police, the motive of the shooting and who was responsible is unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
