Evansville Police arrested 26 year old Kevin Washington on weapon and resisting law enforcement charges following a foot chase early Sunday morning.

According to police, the incident began at 3:30 a.m. Sunday when officers were dispatched to 701 S Green River Road for a complaint of a man beating a woman. Police say the caller also said the man was armed with a handgun. When officers arrived on the scene, they say Washington was found nearby and ordered to get on the ground. He appeared to comply, but authorities indicate he then took off running and reached for his waistband.

Police report Washington was apprehended after a foot chase, and a handgun was recovered along the chase route.

Washington, who authorities report has a prior conviction for Dealing Cocaine, was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, and Resisting Law Enforcement.
