EPD: Viewer tips lead to arrest for theft from Treasure’s resale store

Authorities say tips from the public led to the arrest of an Evansville man for a felony theft charge.

42 year old Matthew Klees was arrested by Evansville Police following an investigation that began on January 4th when authorities were reportedly notified of a theft of a laptop computer at the Treasurer’s resale store in Washington Square Mall.

Police indicate images of Klees tampering with the store’s video surveillance equipment just before the theft was released to the public in an effort to identify him. Several tips, including one from Klees probation officer, were called into the Evansville Police Department identifying him as the man seen in the video.

According to the report, police received another tip around 4:00 Tuesday afternoon that Klees was at the Barnes and Noble book store on South Green River Road where he was taken into custody.
