Elliott County woman charged in deaths of 2 after crash

WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (AP) An Elliott County woman has been charged in an August crash that left two people dead.

Kentucky State Police tells media outlets in a news release that 42-year-old Teresa Haney was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 46-year-old Thomas Tufts of Flemingsburg and 46-year-old Janet Caskey of Clearfield.

Troopers say Haney was driving Aug. 6 on Highway 7 in Morgan County when her SUV crossed the center line and hit a motorcycle that the victims were on.

Trooper Joe Veeneman says both Tufts and Caskey were ejected. Tufts was pronounced dead at the scene. Caskey and Haney were taken to the hospital, where Caskey died six days later.

It’s immediately unclear if Haney has an attorney.
