DCSO: 1 person is dead after a 3-vehicle crash on the Audubon Parkway

One person was killed this morning in a three-vehicle wreck near the 18 mile marker of the Audubon Parkway.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports the fatal collision occurred when an Impala traveling eastbound rear-ended a vehicle occupied by Douglas Newman and Jenny Clark, both of Henderson, causing their vehicle to hit a guardrail.

Authorities say the Impala traveled into the median where it overturned several times, ejecting the driver, and then crossed into the westbound lanes into the path of a tractor-trailer before it came to rest in the median where it caught fire.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the Impala was pronounced dead the scene, and toxicology results are pendingĀ  which is standard procedure in a fatality investigation. The name of the deceased driver will be released by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin has been notified.

The two Henderson residents and the two Florida residents occupying the semi were reportedly either uninjured or treated at the scene.

The Airport-Sorgho Fire and Daviess County Fire Departments and Yellow EMS assisted DCSO at the scene.
