Coronor Releases Preliminary Cause of Death for County Judge Executive Jody Jenkins

Union County Coroner Stephen Shouse has released the preliminary cause of death of Union County Judge Executive Jody Jenkins who was found dead early Sunday. Shouse tells WMSK News the results of an autopsy held today in Louisville shows Jenkins died of a combination of pulmonary edema, an enlarged heart and significant clogging of the coronary arteries. He says the official cause of death is still pending the results of toxicology tests. Those results won’t be known for three to four weeks. Shouse says there were no signs of foul play. Jenkins was 44. Funeral services are pending at the Whitsell Funeral Home.
The Union County Fiscal Court will meet in regular session Tuesday and according to County Attorney Brucie Moore one of the first items of business will be to appoint a member of the
Fiscal Court to serve as acting County Judge Executive until the Governor’s office appoints a new Judge who will serve out the remainder of Jenkins term which ends in December. A number of
candidates have already filed for the office of County Judge Executive in this year’s election.
