A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close a section of KY 2101 in Union County starting Tuesday, May 28, 2019. This closure of KY 2101 is near the intersection with KY 492. KY 492 has been closed at milepoint 6.1 since May 20th to facilitate construction of a new bridge over Wash Creek. The bridge work zone on KY 492 is adjacent to the KY 2101 intersection. Closing KY 2101 will help to speed work on the new bridge There will be no marked detour. Ragle, Inc, is the prime contractor on this bridge replacement project. The roadway at this site is expected to reopen around July 10th. This work zone will remain active for a few weeks after KY 492 reopens to allow landscaping and other finish work on the new bridge. This bridge replacement project is part of the Bridging Kentucky Program aimed at replacing or rehabilitating 1,000 critical bridges over a 6 year period. For more info go to www.bridgingkentucky.com.
