Cave-In-Rock Ferry resumes service

The Cave-In-Rock Ferry in Crittenden County has resumed service.

The ferry service closed early Wednesday afternoon due to high winds and tornado warnings, according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd. He says the ferry resumed service around 4:00 Wednesday afternoon and is expected to be back in operation on its regular scheduled this morning.

The Cave-In-Rock Ferry connects KY 91 with Illinois Route 1 across the Ohio River between Crittenden County and Hardin County, Illinois.

The ferry normally operates from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. central time, 7 days a week, and carries about 500 vehicles across the Ohio River in an average day.
