Big Rivers Electric Corporation near Henderson Presented Governor’s Safety and Health Award

On Thursday, Big Rivers Electric Corporation near Henderson was presented a Governor’s Safety and Health Award for working 2,552,141 consecutive hours without a lost time injury of illness.

During the award presentation on Thursday, Labor Cabinet Deputy Secretary Mike Nemes said this was the second Governor’s Safety and Health Award for the Sebree facility since last November. He stated that Big Rivers Electric has a name for itself in the world of workplace safety, and he was honored to once again recognize their distinguished efforts.

According to the release, Big Rivers Corporation, based in Henderson, is comprised of three cooperatives: Jackson Purchase Energy, Kenergy Corporation, and Meade County RECC. Together, they serve 114-thousand members in over 22 counties, including all Kentucky counties in the WMSK listening area.

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet presents the Governor’s Safety and Health Award to highlight outstanding safety and health performance in workplaces across the state. According to state officials, a business may qualify for the award if its employees achieve a required number of hours worked without experiencing a lost time injury or illness. The required number of hours is dependent upon the number of employees.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 10, 2016) – Labor Cabinet Deputy Secretary Mike Nemes visited Big Rivers Electric Corporation at Sebree Station today to present a Governor’s Safety and Health Award for working 2,552,141 consecutive hours without a lost time injury or illness.
