Autopsy results released in Calloway County murder investigation

The autopsy results have been released for two adults and two children whose bodies were found inside a house fire in Calloway County earlier this week that authorities have determined was set intentionally.

According to Kentucky State Police, the preliminary results of the autopsies show Marisol Hernandez and her husband Bulmaro Arellano died as a result of gunshot wounds. KSP states it is believed both children died of smoke inhalation; however, testing is being conducted for verification. KSP says their investigation shows that the fire was intentionally set to cover up the murders.

KSP reported firefighters were called to the home on KY 121 south, approximately ½ south of Murray around 9:45 Tuesday night and found the body of the mother inside the residence from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the bodies of her husband and her two children, a five year old boy and an 18 month old girl.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the murders and are asking the public for any tips or information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of the person, or persons, responsible for the homicides.
