5 people arrested on drug charges in White County, IL

NEWS RELEASE

Five people were arrested on drug charges after a detail was conducted Wednesday that involved the White County Sheriff’s Department, Carmi Police Department, Southern Illinois Drug Task Force, and the Illinois State Police.

After a lengthy investigation by the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force, the White County Sheriff’s Office reports a search warrant was executed at a residence at 1322 W. Sycamore Street in Carmi, IL. where three subjects were arrested and a quantity of drugs and currency were seized.

According to authorities the individuals arrested were:

40 year old Carrie Strean of
1322 W. Sycamore Street, Carmi, IL for two counts of Methamphetamine Conspiracy Delivery of Controlled Substance, Possession of Controlled Substance ( 19.3 grams methamphetamine), and Destruction of Evidence;

38 year old Jason Hamby of 1322 W. Sycamore Street, Carmi, IL for
Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Cannabis;

And 54 year old Kevin Kivett of 5161 Cameo Lane, Joplin, MO for Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

In addition, authorities indicate two other subjects were arrested at different locations in connection to the same investigation. 60 year old David W. Strean of 805 Smith Street, Carmi, IL and 46 year old Beverly J. Newman of 911 Stewart Street Apt #11, Carmi, IL were charged for Unlawful delivery of methamphetamine.

The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.
