4 Warfield fire trucks repossessed; Police investigating

WARFIELD, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police are investigating the Warfield Volunteer Fire Department in Martin County after four fire trucks were repossessed.

Warfield Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jay Hinkle tells WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/25qfjpX) that First Government Lease Company in Northfield, Illinois repossessed the truck Monday and won’t give them back, claiming loans taken out on them had not been paid back.

Officials are trying to figure out who applied for loans on the trucks and why, since they were already paid off.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the situation.

Hinkle says that now, the fire department is down to two fire engines and a rescue truck. However, he says the department is still able to provide adequate fire coverage because they are receiving help from departments in Inez and Kermit, West Virginia.

First Government Lease Company didn’t return WYMT-TV’s requests for comment.
