3rd Annual KMA District 14 Poker Runs Fundraiser for Happy Feet Friday and Saturday

The 3rd Annual Kentucky Motorcycle Association, District 14, Poker Runs to benefit the local non-profit organization, Happy Feet, will be held this week during the Kentucky Bike Rally in Sturgis.

That was David Holt, District 14 Treasurer, who adds the motorcyclists participating in the Poker Runs will be riding through several surrounding counties.

Last year during the bike rally, Holt says they raised $2,000 for Happy Feet that was equally distributed between the District 14 counties of Crittenden, Henderson, Union and Webster.

Happy Feet Equals Learning Feet, a non-profit organization created in 2009, provides shoes to selected income eligible students pre-K through 12th grade. Organizers feel a happy student becomes a better learner, thus the name “Happy Feet Equals Learning Feet.” They believe not having basic personal items can distract a child from performing well in school, and that a new pair of shoes can help build self-esteem, as well as reduce teasing and bullying.

As soon as the bike rally Poker Runs are over, Holt says they will start on their next event planned, which is the Pre-Corn Festival Union County Happy Packs Poker Run and Charity Auction.

According to Holt, they would be happy if anyone would like to donate for the charity auction in August to help raise funds for the Union County Happy Packs organization.
