2 Drivers flown to Evansville hospital after two vehicle wreck on US 62

Nelson Creek (Muhlenberg County) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a two-vehicle, injury-collision that occurred on US 62, just west of Nelson Creek, on Tuesday, November 17, at 11:04 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Sierra Alsepp-Rowe, 28, Drakesboro, KY, was operating a 2000 Saturn LS westbound on US 62. Raymond Smith, 77, Drakesboro, KY, was operating a 1986 Ford F150 eastbound on US 62. Ms. Alsepp-Rowe lost control of her vehicle in a curve and crossed into the eastbound lane where her vehicle struck Mr. Smith’s vehicle head-on. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and both were flown to St. Mary’s in Evansville, IN for treatment. There were no passengers in either vehicle. Ms. Alsepp-Rowe was not wearing a seatbelt. Mr. Smith was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper First Class Jerrod Hearld is investigating the collision. Trooper First Class Craig Engler, the Nelson Creek Fire Department, the Central City Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, and PHI Air Medical assisted at the scene.
